Dental check ups are a vital preventive service at the dental office.
Regular dental check ups are your most cost-effective way to catch problems early. Problems caught early are usually easier to remedy than when caught in a more advanced state.
A dental check up may include:
- a review of any symptoms or concerns you are having
- a review of your medical history including prescription drugs and supplements
- a cursory evaluation of the head and neck
- oral cancer screening
- a detailed examination of the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, including your teeth, gums, cheeks, tongue, palate, and more
- dental x-rays to detect cavities between teeth, check for infection, and evaluate tooth bone level
- a review of the findings and a suggested course of action (if any).
